Jurassic World Sequel Will Hit Theaters June 22, 2018

It’s official! The Jurassic World Sequel will be released on Friday, June 22, 2018. As previously reported by Variety, and now confirmed by the Jurassic Park Twitter and Facebook pages, the Jurassic World sequel has been greenlit. It was rumored just a week ago that a first draft of the script would be ready by August of this year.

jurassic_world_sequel_logoVariety confirms that Colin Trevorrow will co-write the script with writing partner Derek Connolly. Trevorrow has already stated in interviews that he will not return to direct, but it is good to see the film will be at least guided in the right direction with his original story.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are set to return in this unnamed sequel. Steven Spielberg will again executive produce through his Amblin banner.

On Wednesday, Jurassic World became the No. 3 top-grossing film of all-time, surpassing The Avengers with $1.52 billion in ticket sales. It has only been in theaters for 41 days, but that didn’t stop the filmmakers from jumping on the chance to secure their next entry’s release date.

What will the sequel’s story revolve around? Will the park once again be open, or will the story take a turn away from islands and towards the mainland? See my previous article, full of facts and speculation! And stay tuned here for more Jurassic World news!
