LEGO Ideas Jurassic Park Visitor Center Reaches 10,000 Supporters

01bbb

The Jurassic Park Visitor Center by LDiEgo is the latest LEGO Ideas project to reach the 10,000 supporter milestone. The project is an impressively large building featuring rooms from many iconic scenes in the 1993 classic film. The build can open up to reveal recognizable rooms like the control room, genetics lab, kitchen, and much more! See all the incredible images below and more details.

After reaching the 10,000 supporter milestone, this project officially advances to the Review phase where it will be considered by the LEGO Review Board. They will build concept models and determine if the concept meets their high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product. The LEGO review begins in May.

This project features a complex building in the facade, as well as some rooms inside to recreate every scene in the movie:

  • Main entrance hall, with two brick built skeletons: a sauropod and a Tyrannosaurus
  • “Les Gigantes” restaurant, with gift shop
  • Kitchen
  • V.I.P. Dining Room
  • Emergency bunker
  • Showcase theatre
  • Control room
  • Genetics lab with cold storage room

The rooms can be hinged or detached for a better play experience. There is also space for a secret compartment at the main entrance, under the stairs.

This is the seventh set to qualify for the first 2016 review stage following the Particle Accelerator, Jedi High Council Chamber, Old Fishing Store, Modular Train Station, Gingerbread House and my favorite so far, the Fossil Museum.

While I am super excited to see a massive set like this based on Jurassic Park, there’s a good chance it will not be approved by LEGO to become a real set for sale. The LEGO Ideas folks have been leaning towards original ideas this year, not based on existing properties. They have approved things like Wall-E, Ghostbusters, and Dr. Who, but no Jurassic Park or Jurassic World Ideas projects have been approved after meeting the 10k milestone. Maybe this one will break through though, you never know.

If you like this project, check out the creator’s other project, the Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler set!

“At least this project is safer than the actual park. If the set breaks down, the bricks don’t eat the supporters!”
